"Son Of the Morning" is a full concept album brought to you by Oh, Sleeper, God, and the Devil himself. Like "When I Am God" the band does a great job telling the story of Good and Evil. Unlike "When I Am God," "Son Of the Morning" is a full on concept album, from beginning to end. The record opens up with the title track with the devil himself speaking, and God calling back.
Before I continue for those who don't know what the album art is about and think it's a little plain, it's really not. The album art consists of a broken pentagram that shows creation over God, the 3 point's show the goatee, the two ears. The song "The Finisher" explains the reason why the other two points are gone, they are the horns. The song says "My angels will sing to a world reborn as I cut off your horns." show that Good has defeated evil. Below is a picture explaining the album art:
Oh, Sleeper as we all know are a Christian Metal-core band, I mean it's obvious considering they are on Solid State Records. Unlike all the other "Christian" bands Oh, Sleeper doesn't sound like they are the preachy type, in fact that they are. Although the whole album is a giant story about God and the Devil. If you knew nothing about the band you wouldn't really be able to tell. From start to finish this album is one to surprise and amaze, I love everything about this band and couldn't be happier.
